Chinese dissident Wang Luowang dies in N.Y. hospital
TOKYO, Japan - Chinese dissident Wang Luowang (file photo) died of lung cancer in a hospital in New York on Dec. 19, hospital officials said Dec. 20. He was 83. Wang, a Shanghai-born novelist, was arrested and detained for agitating the 1989 pro-democracy demonstrations in the Tiananmen Square in Beijing. He was released in 1990 and moved to the United States where he continued his activities.
