Koizumi announces $1 bil. grant for Africa

TOKYO, Japan - Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi delivers a keynote speech at the third Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 3) at a Tokyo hotel on Sept. 29. He said Japan will provide Africa with $1 billion in grants over the next five years toward AIDS relief, education, access to clean water and other areas. (Kyodo)
