Dollar plunges to lower 88 yen near 13-year low

TOKYO, Japan - An electric signboard at a money broker in Tokyo shows the U.S. dollar dropping to the 88 yen level on Dec. 17. The dollar plunged to the lower 88 yen level at one time in Tokyo, nearing a 13-year low, after the U.S. Federal Reserve on Dec. 16 slashed its key interest rate to near zero in an unprecedented move.
