Aomori Nebuta Festival begins for 6-day-run
AOMORI, Japan - Large lantern floats depicting human figures parade through the streets in Aomori, northeastern Japan, on Aug. 2, 2014, the first day of the six-day Aomori Nebuta Festival. The largest float called Nebuta is about nine meters wide, about five meters tall, and weighs about four tons. According to organizers, the festival attracts as many as three million people every year. (Kyodo)
