Princess Kiko puts on special obi to pray for safe delivery
TOKYO, Japan - Princess Kiko, accompanied by her husband Prince Akihito, leaves the Imperial Palace after putting on a protective ''obi'' (sash) in an imperial ceremony to pray for her baby's safe delivery on Aug. 1. ''Chakutai-no-gi'' is an imperial ceremony conducted on the Day of the Dog during a mother's ninth month of pregnancy because dogs are believed to have relatively easy deliveries. (Kyodo)
