"A funeral service for Tyre Nichols, who died last month after being beaten by police officers, was held in Memphis, Tennessee, on Feb. 1, 2023.
Video footage released by Memphis authorities last week showed officers brutally punching and kicking Nichols even when the African American man was subdued.
'An emotional farewell in Memphis for Tyre Nichols,' reported The Washington Post, saying Vice President Kamala Harris urged justice at the ceremony.
'Mourners find a sense of mission,' said The New York Times, stressing law is needed to bring more accountability to cases of police violence.
'U.S. police violence stems from a long history of fighting internal enemies,' addressed major news portal The Conversation.
