Pasta De Conchos - 18 Years After The Tragedy In Mexico
On Monday, the organization Familia Pasta de Conchos is participating in a mass at the Antimonument 65+ A una voz, rescate ya! in Mexico City, Mexico, to express their rejection of the President of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, for failing to fulfill his promise to recover the bodies of 65 miners who died in the Pasta de Conchos mine collapse in Coahuila on February 19, 2006, with 63 of them still remaining buried to this day.
The incident occurred due to inadequate ventilation and safety failures in mine 8 of the Pasta de Conchos Unit, where a strong explosion caused by the accumulation of methane gas trapped the miners, who were working under terrible conditions. (Photo by Gerardo Vieyra/NurPhoto)
