Q: How can I use Image Link Global (ILG)?
A: Please register from "New Account" to start using ILG.
You will receive a confirmation email after entering your email address and password. Please activate it and login to our website. Please be noted that you can only register once with the same address.
Q:Can I apply for an ID as an individual?
A: Image Link Global (ILG) is a B2C service (i.e. corporate service) and is not available for individual use. While there are exceptions which is available to individuals if the content is intended for use in newspapers, broadcasting, publishing, education, etc.
Q:Is this a free service?
A: Membership registration (i.e. creating an account for ILG) is free of charge. While a license fee exists for the use of images and video.
Q: I forgot my password.
A: You can reset your password by clicking ’Forgot Password?’.
Q: I would like to resell the data to other parties after purchasing it.
A: Data resale is prohibited. Data are only available to be used by the one who purchased.
Q:How can I search for the contents?
A:The data can be found based on a free keyword search. With an advanced search (optional), you can narrow down the search by specifying the date and period, category, etc. You can also browse by the special features or new arrivals. If you want to enter multiple words in the free keyword search, please separate them with a space between. There is a "Filter" option on the left of the search box, you can also narrow down your search by the filter. (e. g. You can select "Editorial" for only editorial contents.) For the detailed information such as data size, please click on the thumbnail of the content to see detailed information such as data size.
Q:I can't find the content I'm looking for.
A:If you cannot find the content that you are looking for, please contact us from ‘Contact Us’ with the details such as the shooting period of the content. Depending on the quantity of items, please be noted that a separate research fee maybe charged.
Q: How can I order?
A:Please put the contents you would like to use into the Shopping Cart and go to the order page. Please enter the license area or countries and the media information on the cart page and then proceed to the payment. You can move it to IdeaBox if you don't want to buy it right away.
Q: How can I receive the data and how long will it take?
A: You will be able to download the data immediately with a successful credit card payment. If you choose to pay by bank transfer, the data will be available to download after we confirm your payment. In some cases, it may take a few business days (Japan time) to confirm the payment. We recommend you to pay by a credit card if you are in a hurry. You can download the data again within 72 hours from Home>My Account>Order DL History while you can only use on the specific media and purpose that you claimed at the time of order. Data may not be stored, saved, reused in any other media or for any other purpose, or used for secondary purposes. Please discard the data after use. Please place another order if you wish to reuse the data or use it for a secondary purpose.
Q:What is a promotional code?
A: A promotional code is code issued for those who are eligible for the promotion campaign. If you receive a code and you are eligible user, please enter it on the cart page to use it. The code will be sent to your registered email address via email newsletter or other means.
Q: I want to cancel my order.
A: We do not accept cancellations after the data has been delivered.
Q: What is the differences between "editorial" and "creative" content?
A: "Editorial" content can be used for newspapers, magazines, websites, textbooks etc., as long as the caption of the content is consistent with the purpose of the coverage. You may not use the content for the purpose of defaming the subject. In addition, under some circumstances, the content needed to be right clearance for use. For example, for commercial, sales promotion, advertising, or publicity use etc. In these cases, prior permission for portrait rights, copyrights, trademarks, or other rights must be obtained separately from the subject or organization. Please contact us for the details of right clearance.
Creative content can be used for a wider range of purposes than editorial content. While confirmation of the details and a separated price will be issued if you wish to use the images or videos for commercial, sales promotion, advertising, or promotional purposes.
Q: About watching the video
A: You can view them for less than 60 seconds for each video samples. Please contact us if you would like to view the them in full sizes.
Q: Can I save or reuse content?
A: All Image Link Global (ILG) content is rights-managed (RM). As such, you may use it only once on the specific media and purpose that you claimed at the time of order. Data may not be accumulated, stored, reused in any other media or for any other purpose, or used for any secondary purpose. Please discard the data after use. Please place another order if you wish to reuse the data or use it for a secondary purpose.
Q: Can I crop and adjust the color tone on the images?
A: Trimming and color tone adjustment are possible as long as they do not detract from the purpose of the original data. However, we do not accept extreme trimming or extreme color adjustment such as binarization.
Q: Can I add any description to the contents?
A: Editorial content may not be used for the purpose which violates the original intense of picturing. It is fine to use descriptions that are appropriate to the content. Please be noted that captions may be replaced due to the situation changes depended on the news. Please make sure that you have the latest information before using them.
For "Creative" content, you are free to add a description as an image photo.
Q: How do I add credit?
A: Please indicate "XX (name of content supplier) / Kyodo News Images" as shown in the Credit section of the image details page.
Q: How will data be delivered?
A: JPEG files for images, mp4 files for video.
Q: What methods of payments are available?
A: You can pay by credit card or by invoice (bank transfer). You can download the data immediately with a successful credit card payment. You will be redirected to the stripe page if you choose to pay by credit card. If you choose to pay by bank transfer, the data will be available to download after we confirm your payment. In some cases, it may take a few business days (Japan time) to confirm the payment. We recommend you to pay by a credit card if you are in a hurry.
Q: Can I pay later?
A: In principle, we accept payment in advance.
Q: How can I download invoices?
You can download the invoice from Home > My Account > Invoices / Receipts.
**Please write your PG No. in the notes/deposit remarks column when you make the transfer. Please be noted that you will be responsible for the bank transfer fee. **
Q: Can I cancel my order after purchase?
A: In principle, you can neither cancel nor refunds for the purchases.
Q: What are single plan and monthly plan?
A: Single plan: This is a plan for purchasing single items. You can use this plan as soon as you register as a member.
Monthly plan: This is a monthly subscription plan. You can download till the last date of the month within the download quota by paying a fixed price each month. The price per pieces is lower than the single plan. Please be noted that not all of the contents are available to purchase under the monthly plan. The subscription will be automatically renewed every month unless you cancel it within the subscription period. **Please be noted that the subscription period is fixed for each month (The first day to the last day of the month). The subscription for the current month ends on the last day of the end no matter when did you start your plan. The downloading quota cannot be carried over to the next month. **
Q: Is there a plan that is more price is lower than the MONTHLY PLAN?
A: We can offer you a customized plan upon request. Please contact us through ‘Contact Us’ so that we can provide you with a proposal/special quotation based on your details.
Q: How do I switch the contract plan to be used when downloading?
A:You can switch from the contract selected in the Current Contracts section of Home>My Account>Contract Info. Click on the plan name displayed in the upper right corner of the screen to go directly to the Home>My Account>Contract Info page.
Q: I would like to share a single plan with multiple people.
A: You can add a Child ID to share your contract if the main contractor(ID) is a Parent ID. Please go to Home > My Account > Contract Info and click on the Contract number of the contract you would to share. You can add the ID (email address) you would like to share from Child ID. Please be noted that you can only add Child IDs by Parent IDs, which are the main contracting party, while the child ID should be ID of ILG already exists and a single plan is not available to share.
Q: I would like to shift my parent ID to another person.
A: The function of transfering parent ID is only avaliable for contracts paid by bank transfer. For those who are eligible, please go to Home > My Account > Contract Info and click on the Contract number of the contract that you would like to shift. You can shift the contract from "Transfer" in "Contract ID Information". Please be noted that neither contracts paid with credit card nor single plan contract is available to shift the parent ID.
Q: I would like to cancel my single plan.
A: You cannot cancel the Single plan. While for the single plan no charges will exist except when you did any purchase.
Q: I would like to cancel my monthly plan.
A: If you have subscribed online, you will find "Quit this plan" at the bottom of Home>My Account>Contract Info>Contract number. Please confirm the contract end date and enter the reason before quitting the contract there.
**Please be noted that the cancellation date is varied for the payments:
・Bank transfer (invoice) : You need to apply by the 20th of two months on or before the end date.
・Credit card : You need to apply by 5 days on or before the last day of the month (Japan Time). **
If you would like to cancel a customized plan, it is not available to be done online, please contact the person in charge for contract.
Q: I would like to provide digital contents to ILG for sell.
A: If you are interested in providing content for our site or forming a business partnership with us regarding other visual content, please contact us through Become a Partner. Our staff will contact you after confirming the details.
Q: I would like to use the contents for advertising or commercial purposes.
A: If you wish to use the images for commercial, sales promotion, advertising, or promotional purposes, we will confirm the contents and provide a price quotation in advance. For those usage, the content may need to be right clearance for use. Prior permission for portrait rights, copyrights, trademarks, or other rights must be obtained separately from the subject or organization. Please contact us for the details of right clearance service.
Q: What is the Idea Box?
A: The Idea Box is a feature that allows you to save content for consideration. The URL for editing allows others to edit the Idea Box, and the URL for read-only allows others to view and give comments to the Idea Box. You can easily share your ideas with your teammates by using the comment function inside the box.
Q: I would like to withdraw the membership.
A: Please contact us from ‘Contact Us’. While the membership (ID) does not exist any fees unless you did any purchase.
Q: I want to use an article from Kyodo News.
A: Permission is required to use for the Kyodo News articles, except for exceptions permitted by the Copyright Law (such as reproduction for personal use and quotation). Please contact us through ‘Contact Us’ so that we can check the relevant articles.
Q: Can I request for a topic for you to photograph it?
A: Yes, we accept requests for special topics depending on the content. Please contact us for more details
