Maglev train runs at record spee
A manned high-speed train of Central Japan Railway Co. hits a
record speed of 501 kilometers per hour Nov. 28 at a test center in
Yamanashi Prefecture, west of Tokyo. The new record velocity of
superconducting magnetically levitated linear motor vehicle, or
Maglev as it is popularly called, reached the milestone on an 18.4-km
track built between Tsuru and Otsuki.
