E-money experiments starts
Commercial banks and credit card companies in Japan will
begin an experiment Thursday July 16 to introduce electric money, or
''e-money'' in one of Tokyo's busiest shopping areas in Shibuya. A
46-company consortium led by Visa International and Sumitomo Bank
plans to issue 130,000 cards for use at some 700 shops. The photo
shows a mother being advised how to use ''e-money'' in a
demonstration at an ice cream shop in Shibuya on Wednesday July 15.
