Obuchi meets Kuwaiti first deputy premier
Japan's Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi (R) shakes hands with
Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister Sabah al-Ahmed al-Jaber as-Sabah
at the prime minister's official residence in Tokyo on Oct. 26.
Obuchi expressed hope Kuwait would renew oil-drilling rights for
Arabian Oil Co., Japan's largest oil producer, off its Persian Gulf
coast beyond the expiration in 2002 of its contract. Sabah, also
minister of foreign affairs, is making a five-day visit to Japan
through Oct. 29.
