U.S. LPGA wins 14th straight Nichirei golf title
The U.S. LPGA squad gains an overwhelming victory over the
Japan LPGA team for its 14th straight title in the Nichirei
International golf tournament at Tsukuba Country in Ibaraki
Prefecture on Nov. 1. The U.S. tour regulars, who began the day with
a five-point advantage after the first two days, ran out 24-12
winners over their Japanese tour counterparts. Captain Pat Hurst was
named the most valuable player of the 702,000 dollar tournament, in
which the winning team earned 450,000 dollars to be divided equally
among its 18 members.
