Damages suit by Allied POWs turned down
Seven former prisoners of war from four Allied powers walk
down into the Tokyo District Court on Thursday Nov. 26 to hear a
ruling on their $154,000 damages suit filed against the Japanese
government for their sufferings during World War II internment in
Japanese-occupied Southeast Asia. The court turned down the suit,
filed on behalf of some 11,000 former POWs in Britain, the United
States, Australia and New Zealand.
