Ibis chick is 1-month old
The first crested ibis bred in captivity in Japan is one month old on June 21. Officials at the ibis conservation center in Sadogashima Island, Niigata Prefecture, said the bird should be able to fly in about 10 days. The baby crested ibis, hatched from an egg laid by an bird donated by China, tips the scale at 1.3 kilograms on June 21, almost the same weight as Yang Yang, its mother, which weighs 1.36 kg.
