Int'l music festival opens its 10th year in Sapporo
SAPPORO, Japan - A month-long international music festival, founded by U.S. conductor Leonard Bernstein to foster the talents and development of young musicians, opened its 10th year in Sapporo on July 10. Some 5,400 people attended the opening program of the Pacific Music Festival (PMF) at the Sapporo Art Park Outdoor Stage to hear the music of Bernstein and Beethoven played by musicians from the Vienna Philharmonic, conducted by Chien Wen-pin of Taiwan.
