TOKYO, Japan - Shipments of the electronic pet Furby in Japan surpasses 1 million units since its release on May 29, Tomy Co., the importer of the toy, said Aug. 3. Furby, made by Tiger Electronics Ltd. of the United States, is equipped with a memory chip that enables it to ''learn'' to speak around 200 words and phrases in reaction to sounds and vibrations.
