PET bottle model of Himeji Castle completed
HIMEJI, Japan - Volunteers complete Aug. 6 a 7-meter-high model of the 17th century Himeji Castle using some 40,000 used polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles at an old freight terminal in the western Japan city Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture. The model, conceived by the Himeji municipal government to get the public interested in recycling, was built over 17 days by 600 volunteers using PET bottles collected from elementary schools and supermarkets around the city.
