Japanese and Panamanian vessels collide off Shimonoseki
FUKUOKA, Japan - A 1,591-ton Japanese tanker, the Seihomaru No. 2, shows damage it suffered on its starboard side after colliding with a 3,683-ton Panamanian-registered cargo ship, New Prosperity, off Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecutre, on Aug. 26. Some gasoline the Seihomaru was carrying leaked, and its captain, Akitoshi Miyashita, suffered a cut in the face.
