Matsuo wins Hokkaido Marathon in debut race
SAPPORO, Japan - Kazumi Matsuo is all smiles after winning the women's race in Hokkaido Marathon on Aug. 29 with a time of 2 hours, 32 minutes, 14 seconds in her marathon debut. The 25-year-old runner, who began full-fledged marathon training only in June, outran top favorite Tomoe Abe, the bronze medal winner at the 1993 world championships who finished second in 2:33:45.
