Jumbo taro-boiling cauldron for 30,000

YAMAGATA, Japan - A jumbo steel cauldron six meters in diameter filled with boiled taro, or starchy tuberous rootstocks, is served to more than 30,000 at a festival in Yamagata, northern Japan, on Sept. 5. Shovels were used to serve the boiled taro.

The work will be installed in the space next to the portrait of Pope Francis, in the right nave of the Basilica, at a height of approximately 13 meters.
