Teijin announces takeover bid for Toho Rayon

TOKYO, Japan - Shosaku Yasui (C), president of Teijin Ltd., Japan's leading polyester maker, announces at a news conference Sept. 9 an open takeover bid for Toho Rayon Co., aiming to take a majority stake in the company renowned for its carbon fibers. At right is Toho Rayon President Toshio Furue. At left is Akihiro Mochizuki, president of Nisshinbo Industries Inc., currently Toho Rayon's largest shareholder.
