Activist says guerrillas guarantee safety of Japanese hostages
BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan - Human rights activist Tursunbek Akunov gives an interview to Kyodo News in Bishkek on Sept. 9, in which he said the field commander of Muslim guerrillas holding a dozen hostages has guaranteed that four Japanese hostages are safe and well. Akunov is brokering negotiations between the Kyrgyz military and the guerrillas.
