Guerrillas' former field commander dies, security adviser says
BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan - The former field commander of the Muslim guerrillas holding 17 hostages in southern Kyrgyzstan, died in a battle between the guerrillas and Kyrgyz military, Kyrgyz presidential security adviser Bolot Dzhanuzakov tells a news conference in Bishkek on Sept. 18. He also said the four Japanese, who are among the 17 hostages, have been moved to a nearby village from the village of Sheber in Khodzha-Achkan in the Osh region, southern Kyrgyzstan, where they had previously been held, but are all safe.
