Court orders damages in discrimination case
HAMAMATSU, Japan, Oct. 12 Kyodo - Ana Bortz, a Brazilian TV reporter, speaks at a news conference in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, following a court ruling that ordered a jewelry store owner to pay 1.5 million yen in compensation for ejecting her from his shop because she was a foreigner. In her suit Bortz, 35, claimed the ejection violated the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.
