4 Japanese, 1 Kyrgyz hostage released
KARAMYK, Kyrgyzstan - Japanese mining engineers Toshiaki Ariie (L) and Nobuhisa Nakajima (R), who had been abducted by Islamic rebels, arrived in Karamyk in southern Kyrgyzstan on Oct. 25, along with two other Japanese and a Kyrgyz hostage shortly after the two men were released. Ariie, 58, and Nakajima, 49, were abducted in the Batken district in southern Kyrgyzstan on Aug. 23 together with two other Japanese mining engineers and three Kyrgyz. Two of the three Kyrgyz were freed earlier.
