N. Korea, Japan parties announce joint statement
PYONGYANG, North Korea - Former Prime Minister Tomiichi Murayama (L), leader of a Japanese parliamentary delegation, and Kim Yong Sun (R), secretary of the Workers Party of Korea's central committee secretariat, shake hands in Pyongyang on Dec. 3 after announcing a joint statement calling for an early resumption of talks between the two countries on establishing diplomatic ties.
