Ishi to succeed Kato as chairman of Tax Commission

TOKYO, Japan - An archive photo shows Hiromitsu Ishi, president of Hitotsubashi University, whom the government plans to name as successor to Kan Kato, chairman of the Tax Commission. Ishi, 62, is currently chairman of the corporate tax subcommittee of the commission, an advisory panel to Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi.
