Japan striker Jo leaves for Spain
NARITA, Japan - Japan national team forward Shoji Jo speaks at a news conference prior to departure for Spain on Jan. 7. Spanish club Valladolid have signed Jo of Yokohama F Marinos on a six-month loan, finally setting the stage for the Japan striker to make his European debut after a troubled deal with Madrid side Rayo Vallecano. Jo could appear in the first-division match against Numancia as early as Jan. 16.
