Japan to develop robot to deal with N-accidents
TOKYO, Japan - The Ministry of International Trade and Industry and several Japanese firms will jointly develop a remote-controlled robot that can deal with radiation leaks like that at Tokaimura, Ibaraki Prefecture, in September 1999, ministry officials say Jan. 8. The photo shows a trial robot the ministry developed about 10 years ago with two remote-controlled arms and four legs. It was not designed to work amid large doses of radiation in accidents.
