Security panel holds hearing over monitoring of AUM cult

TOKYO, Japan - The Public Security Examination Commission holds a one-day session Jan. 20 to hear from AUM Shinrikyo over security authorities' requests to monitor and crack down on the cult in line with a new anti-AUM law. AUM's nominal leader Tatsuko Muraoka (far left in front row, facing away) and lawyer Yuji Maeda, an AUM legal agent, were among the participants. The session was held at the Justice Ministry.
