Toyota releases box-shaped car targeted at young motorists

NAGOYA, Japan - Photo shows the ''bB,'' a box-shaped car released by Toyota Motor Corp. on Feb. 2 in line with the automaker's efforts to capture the market of motorists in their 20s. The standard 1.3S model has an engine displacement of 1,300 cc and is priced at 1,298,000 yen in areas excluding Hokkaido and Okinawa Prefecture. The bB uses the same platform as Toyota's popular Vitz car and its box-like exterior allows the kind of interior space found in larger vehicles.

        NAGOYA, Japan - Photo shows what Toyota Motor Corp. claims to be the world's smallest inductive charging system for electric vehicles. Toyota announced Nov. 29 it has jointly developed the system with U.S. automaker General Motors Corp. The system does not require the charger to be installed in the car, and so is smaller and lighter than conventional systems that require onboard chargers.
