40% of stimulants seized in Japan involve N. Korea
TOKYO, Japan - A file photo shows bags of amphetamine confiscated by Yamaguchi Police Department by Feb. 5. More than 40% of illegal stimulant drugs confiscated by police across Japan in 1999 either came from North Korea or have some connection with that country, the National Police Agency said Feb. 17. Police confiscated a record of some 1,970 kilograms (4,334 pounds) of amphetamine in 1999, more than in the previous five years combined.
