Pechstein celebrates German sweep in speed skating
NAGANO, Japan - Claudia Pechstein celebrates her victory in the 1,500 meters on March 5, giving Germany a sweep of all five women's titles in the single-distance world speed skating championships at the M-Wave oval in Nagano. Pechstein won the 3,000 on March 3 and finished second to compatriot Gunda Niemann-Stirnemann in the 5,000 the following day. Monique Garbrecht won both the 500 and 1,000 meter sprints for Germany.
