Ishigaki airport plan moves forward with site proposal
ISHIGAKI, Japan - The photo shows an aerial view of Karadake Rikujyo in Ishigaki Island, Okinawa Prefecture, where a new airport is planned. A 24-year-old plan to build a new airport on the environmentally rich island took a step forward March 11 when advisers to Okinawa Gov. Keiichi Inamine proposed that land southeast of Mt. Karadake be used for the facility.
