Taiwan's Lee resigns as KMT party leader after election defeat
TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taiwan President Lee Teng-hui heads for a meeting of the Nationalist Party's (KMT) top policy-making Central Standing Committee in Taipei on March 24. In the meeting, Lee resigned as leader of the KMT, bowing to massive criticism from within the party and street protests following the KMT's landslide defeat in last week's presidential election.
