Class-action suit seeks ban on night flights at Kadena base
NAHA, Japan - People living near the U.S. Kadena air base in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture, stage a protest rally before entering the Naha District Court on March 27. More than 5,500 people living near the base filed a joint lawsuit against the Japanese government, claiming damages for noise pollution and seeking a ban on night flights. The group is demanding compensation of more than 6 billion yen. The banner reads, ''Give us back our quiet nights.''
