YOKOHAMA, Japan - Chunichi Dragons manager Senichi Hoshino congratulates hurler Melvin Bunch on April 7 after the former Seattle Mariners farmhand pitched a no-hitter against the Yokohama BayStars. The defending Central League champions defeated Yokohama 8-0 to snap a three-game losing streak.

Earlier Dec. 11, Yomiuri Giants manager Shigeo Nagashima paid a visit to the Fukuoka home of the Pacific League's most valuable player in an attempt to convince the 36-year-old southpaw to sign with the Central League team.
