Sailing ship leaves Osaka for around-the-world voyage
OSAKA, Japan - The 362-ton Akogare leaves Osaka on April 9 for an around-the-world voyage, becoming the first Japanese sailing ship to attempt such a voyage since the end of World War II. The three-masted ship will travel the Pacific and the Atlantic oceans, the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean before returning to Osaka in December. Banners hanging from the masts call for bringing the 2008 Summer Olympic Games to Osaka.
