Okinawa formally picks site for Ishigaki airport
NAHA, Japan - Okinawa Gov. Keiichi Inamine (C) on April 26 announces that the Okinawa prefectural government has decided to pick a hilly area around Mt. Karadake in the eastern part of environmentally rich Ishigakijima Island as the site for a controversial new airport, endorsing a proposal made by an advisory panel earlier this month.
