Marchers in Okinawa demand removal of U.S. bases

NAHA, Japan - Hundreds of protesters begin a march in Nago, Okinawa Prefecture, on May 12 in advance of the 28th anniversary May 15 of the prefecture's reversion to Japan. The protesters, many wearing headbands calling for a ''base-free Okinawa,'' demanded the withdrawal of all U.S. military facilities from the prefecture.
