Mori apologizes for 'divine nation' remark
TOKYO, Japan - Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori apologizes at a House of Councillors plenary session May 17 for ''misunderstandings'' caused by his statement that Japan is a divine country with the emperor at its core. Mori told reporters earlier in the day that while he regretted causing any misunderstanding, he would not rescind the remark, which he made May 15.
