JAS allows nonguide dog to board flight as passenger
TOKYO, Japan - A dog involved in welfare activities for the elderly and disabled is allowed by Japan Air System to travel alongside its owner aboard a flight from Tokyo to Sapporo in Hokkaido, northernmost Japan, on May 19. Under the Companion Animal Partnership Program, launched by the Japanese Animal Hospital Association, the dogs are accompanied by volunteers and veterinarians to various nursing homes and welfare facilities to help in the rehabilitation of the elderly and disabled.
