Imperial couple departs on European trip

TOKYO, Japan - Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko wave before boarding a jet at Tokyo's Haneda airport May 20 for a four-nation trip to Europe. The imperial couple are scheduled to make official visits to the Netherlands and Sweden, and unofficial trips to Switzerland and Finland. They are to return to Japan on June 1.
