65-year-old Japanese climbs Nepal peak+
HIROSHIMA, Japan - Tsuneo Hirata, a 65-year-old Japanese engineer, has scaled Mt. Cho-Oyu, one of the world's highest at 8,201 meters, an expedition leader said May 26. He is believed to be the oldest person to achieve such a feat. The Hiroshima native scaled the mountain, which straddles the Nepal-China border, from the Tibetan side on May 12.
