TOKYO, Japan - Third favorite Agnes Flight (front) edges top favorite Air Shakur (back) by a nose on May 28 at Tokyo Racecourse as 45-year-old jockey Hiroshi Kawachi rode his first winner in 17 tries at the Japan Derby. Agnes Flight reeled in Air Shakur over the final furlong to win with a time of 2 minutes, 26.2 seconds over the 2,400-meter test on turf and take home 132 million yen in first-prize money.

Wing Arrow completed the 1,600-meter race in chilly, wet conditions at Tokyo Racecourse in 1 minute, 35.6 seconds to win the top prize of 94 million yen and give French jockey Olivier Peslier his first victory in a Grade 1 race in Japan.
