Former Kanagawa police boss gets suspended 18-month jail term
YOKOHAMA, Japan - Former Kanagawa police chief Motoo Watanabe enters Yokohama District Court on May 29. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison, suspended for three years, for organizing the cover-up of a police officer's use of illicit drugs in 1996. Four other former police officers were slapped with one-year jail terms, suspended for three years.
