WAKAYAMA, Japan - Masumi Hayashi (seen in this file photo), 38, who is standing trial in the 1998 fatal curry poisoning in Wakayama, western Japan, was rushed to a hospital last week after swallowing a piece of wire and three nails at a detention house in the city, judicial sources said May 29. Doctors were able to remove two of the nails from her stomach, and believe the remaining items will not cause any serious damage. According to sources, Hayashi told her lawyers, ''I didn't mean to commit suicide. Please don't ask me why I did it.''
