Mud flow from Mt. Usu moves bridge
ABUTA, Japan - A member of a survey team on May 31 examines a mudslide from Mt. Usu in southwestern Hokkaido that has moved a bridge (L) and buried a signal support in Abuta, a town near the volcano. A 34-member team surveyed damage in two areas of the town that have been closed to the public since Mt. Usu's March 31 eruption. The photo was provided by the Ground Self-Defense Force.
