Prosecution demands 3-yr term for doctor in HIV scandal
TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows Takeshi Abe, 84, a former top authority on hemophilia who is at the center of a scandal involving the infection of nearly 1,500 hemophiliacs with HIV who used unheated blood-clotting agents. Prosecutors on July 26 demanded that Abe receive a three-year prison sentence for his role in the mass infection. Abe has pleaded not guilty in the case.
