Mock 'balloon bomb' exhibited
KITAKYUSHU, Japan - A mock ''balloon bomb'' is exhibited Aug. 5 at a nursery school's gymnasium in Kitakyushu, southwestern Japan. The Imperial Japanese Army produced balloon bombs to be used to attack the mainland United States in the closing days of World War II. The bombs were attached to hydrogen-filled balloons that were to fly to the U.S. on westerly winds.
